Chief Radiologic Technologist
Job Description:
Knowledge & Skills
- Ensure that the radiology services support patient safety, patient experience, patient access and quality
- Provide strategic direction, oversight, and decision making for the radiology services and department
- Assign, assist, and supervise work of the radiology staffs and serve as the support person for the radiology staff in the provision of patient-focused radiology services
- Develops and implements plans and programs for improvement of patient care services to meet changing patient care needs
- Ensures compliance of government codes, regulations and mandates relative to the operations of Radiology services.
- Initiates quality improvements of Radiology Unit.
- Formulate Radiology standards and policies.
- Responsible for team development to ensure timely and accurate delivery of patient services.
- Prepares and submit budget information as required
- Ensures that the service attitude and standards are being practiced by Radiology Personnel
- And other related duties or responsibilities that from time to time maybe assigned
Patient & Family Teaching
- Assesses patients and family learning needs related to patient care.
- Delivers patient teaching according to identified learning needs. Procedures and treatments are explained to the patient using an interpreter as required.
- Evaluates effectiveness of patient and family teaching sessions; documents on the interdisciplinary Patient Teaching Record, or in the outpatient progress notes.
Environmental Safety
- Demonstrates understanding of environmental safety, maintenance infection control standards and related policies and procedures. Demonstrates familiarity with the hospital’s Environment of Care (EOC) program including fire and general safety procedures.
- Applies infection control standards in practice; maintains a clean and safe environment of care. Completes daily environmental monitoring as assigned to ensure that standards are met.
- Take appropriate actions to ensure compliance with Environment of Care (EOC) requirements.
Leadership Skills
- Performs duties with minimal supervision; accepts accountability for decisions and actions.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
- Functions as a role model to all levels of staff, acts as a preceptor/ resource for new employees and staff to the department.
- Makes suggestions for change and process improvement. Participates in staff meetings and quality management activities.
- Demonstrates effective and efficient use of hospital equipment, supplies and resources.
Qualification:
- Registered Radiologic Technologist
- 5-8 years of experience in leadership or its equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement new ideas or systems
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while performing duties
