Respiratory Therapist


Job Description: 

Patient Care

  • Provide care for patients suffering from conditions affecting the lungs and respiratory system.
  • Assist with pain management and provides medical treatments that improve breathing.
  • Meets patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests; assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
  • Helps patient accomplish treatment plan
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Counselling

 

  • Advise the patient on how to best take his or her medications.
  • Support the health care team’s efforts to educate the patient on other important steps to improve or maintain health, such as exercise, diet, and preventive steps like immunization.
  • Refer the patient to his or her physician or other health professionals to address specific health, wellness, or social services concerns as they arise.

 

Qualification: 

 

  • Must be a graduate of BS Nursing or BS Respiratory Therapy
  • Must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist
