Respiratory Therapist
Job Description:
Patient Care
- Provide care for patients suffering from conditions affecting the lungs and respiratory system.
- Assist with pain management and provides medical treatments that improve breathing.
- Meets patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests; assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
- Helps patient accomplish treatment plan
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Counselling
- Advise the patient on how to best take his or her medications.
- Support the health care team’s efforts to educate the patient on other important steps to improve or maintain health, such as exercise, diet, and preventive steps like immunization.
- Refer the patient to his or her physician or other health professionals to address specific health, wellness, or social services concerns as they arise.
Qualification:
- Must be a graduate of BS Nursing or BS Respiratory Therapy
- Must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist
